Security Training

In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front line staff only.

Securi-Guard offers accredited security courses aimed at giving you the qualifications you need to obtain an SIA licence. The process involves a 4-day classroom course (minimum 28 hours of learning delivered).

The course is split in to 2 units, and a multiple choice examination is taken in both units, a pass rate of 70% or more is needed in both units to be successful and to attain the Accredited certificate from the awarding body (NOCN) National Open College Network. Once you have the certificate you can apply to the SIA for a licence.

Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) - Course Content
Knowledge and Practical-based Training and Assessment (30 hours)

  • Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and `other` CCTV Staff
  • Codes of Practice, Operational Procedures and Guidelines
  • CCTV Equipment and its Operation
  • Control Room Communications and Access Control
  • Legislation
  • Dealing with Incidents
  • CCTV Surveillance Techniques
  • Fire and Emergency Procedures
  • Health and Safety at Work
