Oil Storage Alarms - The Threat
Devon and Cornwall Police are urging users of heating oil to ensure their storage facilities are protected following an increase in thefts across Devon – and Securi-Guard has the solution.

Senior officers say thousands of pounds worth of heating oil have been stolen in recent months by thieves tempted by the high prices they can get for the fuel.

The thieves have targeted insecure heating oil tanks to steal thousands of litres in a string of incidents across the county - and police advise owners to secure the tanks and fit them with an alarms.

Latest figures show that around 1.3 million homes use heating oil, paying an average of £900 for a 1,000 litres and many of these properties are in isolated areas.

Farms appear particularly at risk. It’s been reported that the insurance company NFU Mutual has dealt with more than 100 claims for thefts of this kind with a value of £50,000.

• WatchMan Sonic Alarm - This is a revolutionary electronic measuring gauge which will set off an alarm at the receiver in the house when there is a dramatic drop in oil levels! It uses ultrasonic level measurement techniques to continuously measure the level of oil in your tank. This is then sent wirelessly from a transmitter on top of the tank to the receiver which is plugged into a mains wall socket inside your home. When the oil level falls below 10%, a fuel dispensing pump symbol appears on the receiver, indicating that it's time to order more oil.
