Security Training

In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front line staff only.

Securi-Guard offers accredited security courses aimed at giving you the qualifications you need to obtain an SIA licence. Once you have passed the exams for the appropriate Licence Sector you can apply to the SIA for a Licence.

Security Guard Training
For Security Guarding (Static and Patrol) you will need to attend and take three training modules and take and pass three exams. The course will be delivered over four days. The duration of training will be 26 hours.

Core Learning and Qualifications for a Security Guarding Licence

Core Learning for Common Security Industry Knowledge (10 hours)

  • Session 1: Awareness of the Law in the Private Security Industry
  • Session 2: Health and Safety for the Private Security Operative
  • Session 3: Fire Safety Awareness
  • Session 4: Emergency Procedures
  • Session 5: The Private Security Industry
  • Session 6: Communication Skills and Customer Careÿ

Security Guarding Specialist Module (8 hours)

  • Session 1: Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of Security Officers
  • Session 2: Patrolling
  • Session 3: Access and Egress Control
  • Session 4: Searching
  • Session 5: Technology and Systems in the Security Enviroment
  • Session 6: The Security Officer and The Law
  • Session 7: Communicating, Reporting and Record Keeping

Conflict Management Module (8 hours)

  • Session 1: Avoiding Conflict and Reducing Personal Risk
  • Session 2: Defusing Conflict
  • Session 3: Resolving and Learning from Conflict
  • Session 4: Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management for Security Guarding and Close Protection

Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Training

For Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) you will need to attend and take two training modules and take and pass two exams. The course will be delivered over four days. The duration of the training will be 32 hours.

CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Specialist Module (22 hours)

  • Session 1: Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and other CCTV Staff
  • Session 2: Codes of Practice, Operational Procedures and Guidelines
  • Session 3: CCTV Equipment and its Operation
  • Session 4: Control Room Communications and Access Control
  • Session 5: Legislation
  • Session 6: Dealing with Incidents
  • Session 7: CCTV Surveillance Techniques
  • Session 8: Emergency Procedures in the CCTV Control Room
  • Session 9: Health and Safety at Work in the CCTV Environment
